We stumbled across each other in the busy wasteland that is LinkedIn in times of crisis. My big cousin Isabel (daughter of my father’s brother Michael Stephen for those genealogically inclined) proved a willing victim to test out the TNG registration.

She had filled out the form fine and on the admin end I set her permissions to edit her branch of the tree and set the description as her own TNG ID so as to be able to personalise her TNG homepage.

Her registration confirmed, she logged in and had a look around. After fathoming the idiosyncratic TNG interface she found the edit link and corrected some birthdays.

Now my big mission is to rejig the interface to be a more easy to get to grips with and the edit button is number one on the list. I will write about this when I have worked on it a bit but for now I look forward to more many successful registrations!

Having settled on Wordpress with a link to TNG what is need is a Wordpress theme which can be easily incorporated as a TNG template. So I looked for something widely used, free, supported, clear, attractive and which produces well formed XHTML code. Read the rest of this entry »

Hi and I hope this new format works out. Please comment and browse around the genealogy database under the genealogy tab.

I have decided to adopt Wordpress to run side-by-side with TNG rather than Joomla. This is because I want TNG to run independently for ease of updating and of future maintenance by others.
